I made a thousand craens once. It took me about two years although I probably made far more than that over those two years, but I kept losing them. They're in a box that's been covered in kanji, and I used the smallest paper I could find. I carry origami paper with me just about everywhere, and so when I'm bored (or drunk), I just start folding. While I don't only do craens, I've gotten to the point where I can do them blindfolded.

PlotPhroso (Lon Chaney) is a magician with moretade success who daily performs on stage with his wife Anna (Jacqueline Gadsen) as his assistant. Unbeknownst to him, Anna is having an affair with a man named Crane (Lionel Barrymore). One evening, Crane reveals to Phroso that he will be moving to Africa with Anna. Proso attempts to stop him, but gets pushed off a balcony during the struggle that follows, after which he loses the ability to walk, earning him the nickname 'Dead-Legs'. After a period of time, Phroso finds his dead wife in a church, along with a newborn baby. Convinced that Crane is responsible for her death, he swears that he will get his revenge.Eighteen years later, Phroso is living with Doc (Warner Baxter), Babe (Kalla Pasha), Tiny (Tiny Ward) and Bumbu (Curtis Nero) in a jungle near Zanzibar in the midst of a local tribe. He uses his illusions and magic tricks to scare the natives, who start to believe that they are plagued by voodoo, caused by an evil spirit. The leader of the tribe, Crane, suspects that it is a scam of someone trying to rob him from his ivory. Meanwhile, Phroso has sent Doc to Zanzibar to pick up a young, blonde sweetheart from a brothel, and bring her back under the pretense that she will meet her father. The young woman, Maizie (Mary Nolan) is enraged when she finds out that she has been the victim of a scam, but her attempts to escape from the jungle prove unsuccessful.Doc tries to make her feel at home as much as he can, but Phroso's horrible treatment of her provokes a feisty attitude on her side. Maizie wins over Doc's trust, and tries to turn him against Phroso, advising him to stand up to him. Doc, on the other hand, feels that she should not indulge with alcoholism and prostitution. Phroso, meanwhile, has found out that he will be receiving a visit from Crane about the ivory robbery in three days. Crane is unaware that he will be meeting Phroso, and thinks that he is on his way to a random thief. Seeking his vengeance, Phroso looks forward to the meeting and plans on killing Crane. An old tribal custom has it that, when a father dies, the daughter has to be burned at the stake. Knowing that this will happen to Maizie if he kills Crane, Phroso lets the savages have their way with her. While she is suffering from alcohol poisoning, Crane reveals in laughter that she is Phroso's daughter, not his. Furthermore, he admits that Anna never went along with him, because she hated him for paralyzing Phroso. After these revealings, Phroso tries to reconcile with Maizie - who is unaware that he is her father because she passed out - but she has no interest in him and wants to leave instead. However, the natives have shot and killed Crane and, believing that Maizie is his daughter, are now after her.Doc wants to help Maizie escape, but Phroso tells him that there is no hope for her but go through the ceremony. Reluctantly, she prepares herself, only to find out during the ceremony that Phroso is helping her escape with a magic trick including a coffin with two layers. While Doc and Maizie escape the island, the natives find out they have been scammed and burn Phroso instead.
